Ask your MP to protect your right to protest
Our fundamental rights
The Government’s proposed Bill threatens our fundamental rights to protest.
Enormous and unprecedented extensions to policing powers would put huge amounts of power in the hands of the state. This threatens to allow those in power to effectively ban peaceful protests, should they see fit.
Even worse, the Bill would likely deepen racism and discrimination. It proposes to extend stop & search policies that disproportionately impact Black people. It would also discriminate against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
Your power to change this
A small group of MPs are currently looking at the Policing Bill - they have the power to suggest changes and remove parts of this Bill.
Your MP may be one of 17 people on the Committee that’s reviewing the Bill. They will go through it point-by-point.
As their constituent, you have the opportunity to point out that the existing Bill does nothing to change the inequalities in the current system. Instead, it threatens our fundamental rights.
This is a vital chance to make a difference and change the outcome.
Stand up for our freedoms - please urge your MP to stop the Police Crackdown Bill. If your MP is not on the Committee, you’ll be able to send a message to the PM urging him to act.
