Amnesty International UK works to protect all of humanity, wherever and whenever basic rights come under threat.
The new BBC drama, Prisoner 951, showcases Richard and Nazanin’s fight for justice, and the UK authorities huge delays in working for their release. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori are two individuals who were unjustly imprisoned in Iran, and who Amnesty UK campaigned for until their eventual release in 2022.
The root problem still exists - the UK government’s failure to act with urgency and consistency. There is still no coherent strategy to protect British nationals or respond effectively when they are unjustly detained abroad.
