Amnesty UK Governance roles
Good governance is essential to our success, helping to set our direction and making or shaping many of the big decisions that we take as an organisation. So we seek individuals with a broad range of skills, experiences and backgrounds to join our governance bodies.
Because Amnesty International UK Section is a democratic, membership-led organisation, some of our key governance positions are subject to election by our membership. These include the majority of our section’s Board members, as well as a number of important positions that are elected at the annual general meeting.
There are also a number of fixed term governance posts that are appointed annually. In addition, we also have a number of particular tasks where we would welcome specialist expertise and support throughout the year.
All governance roles are fulfilled on a voluntary basis with out-of-pocket expenses fully reimbursed.
If you are interested in supporting Amnesty UK’s governance, please consider the following:
- Some of our governance posts, like elected Board members, require that you are an Amnesty member before you apply. Others don’t. However, we expect that upon appointment, everyone occupying a governance position will be an individual member of Amnesty International UK Section. Become an Amnesty UK member.
- Join our governance vacancy mailing list and register your interest in particular areas of governance. We will let you know when vacancies become available
- Contact the Nominations Committee for any questions you may have: nomcom@amnesty.org.uk
- Keep an eye out for the roles that may suit your skillset, and apply!
