Terms and Conditions for participating solicitors
Amnesty International UK requires that all solicitors participating in Make a Will Month agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
- Solicitors are free to set a limit on the volume of Wills they have capacity to make as part of the scheme and should only commit to an appointment if they have capacity to complete the Will. Solicitors should notify Amnesty when they have reached capacity for numbers of Wills they can write as part of the scheme.
- Amnesty International UK’s Make a Will Month is offered to users as a free Will-writing scheme and solicitors are encouraged to speak to users about considering a gift to Amnesty in their Will; however, users are under no obligation to do so.
- Solicitors agree to prepare simple Wills or amend existing Wills, for free. Should the solicitor find, during the drawing up of a Will (or mirror Wills), that the task is more complicated than expected, they are entitled to ask the user to pay the difference between their normal fee for a simple Will and the actual fee, so the simple Will element is always free. Amnesty International UK requires that solicitors quickly notify users in cases where a fee will be charged and agree this, in advance of any Wills that are written.
- Amnesty International UK asks that participating solicitors respond to scheme enquiries as quickly as possible and carry out the Will-writing process within a reasonable timeframe.
Amnesty International UK would like to thank any supporters who leave a legacy in their Will and communicate with them in the future about our work and other ways they can help. Amnesty International UK requires that solicitors seek consent from all users of the scheme before sharing personal details with us. All information supplied will be treated with the strictest confidence. AIUK will never sell or swap personal information with anyone else. More information about how we use personal information can be read here.
