November group meeting

Cases in the Write for Rights Campaign
© AI

The Southampton group of Amnesty International meets every second Monday of each month to listen to a speaker on human rights related issues and to organise events and campaigns in Southampton.

The next meeting is on 12th November at 19:30 in the Avenue St Andrew's church, The Avenue, Southampton.

The focus of the meeting is an update by two of our group members, Mary and Valerie, about the Human Rights Defenders we have adopted: Dr Eduardo Carder from Cuba, Liu Ping from China, and Aster Fissehatsion and Dawit Isaak, from Eritrea. The short update will be followed by a discussion on how best to campaign for them, possibly in collaboration with other Amnesty groups in the UK and world-wide.

Everyone is welcome to our meetings: whether you are or not a national member of Amnesty International, please come and see how you can become directly involved in promoting human rights world-wide and defend the people who suffer because they dared to raise their voice.
