October 2022 Updated

Thank you to our street collectors for putting aside time for this essential work.

We had an interesting October meeting at Trinity Church Hall.
Richard Crossfield, Country AI Coordinator, zoomed in to talk to us about Human Rights in Brazil, the backdrop being the upcoming Presidential elections. President Bolsanarro is in a second round runoff on October 30th . His Presidency has been accompanied by a severe downturn in the Human Rights situation in Brazil such that Human Rights workers feel that it is currently too dangerous to operate effectively.

Leslie brought an action for us to sign relating to 'Nasta Loika' a Human Rights defender in Belarus. Thanks Leslie, these actions are the lifeblood of Amnesty International's work.

Our meeting on Monday November 7th will be a good opportunity for group members to decide how best to proceed following Peter's stepping down as acting Chair and general organiser for the Woking group. His last meeting as Chair will be Monday December 5th which as always will be devoted to 'Write For Rights', card signing and festive nibbles.
