June 2025 Update
Matters arising from previous meetings :
● Write for Rights campaign- Two venues being approached. Jen contacted Asda and awaits reply. Keith will contact The Lighbox. Pending updates from Jen and Keith.
● Family Courts Crisis - Action: Resolution submitted to AGM Steering Group, however, it has been rejected by Steer Co on the basis that it did not warrant being an Emergency Resolution.
Agenda
● AGM Resolutions - Lively discussion held, but in summary all Motions/Resolutions were passed by the Group. Steph to submit Group’s votes.
● Hong Kong Democracy event - held successfully at Trinity Church on 31 May. About 10 attendees in total. very moving and inspiring event. Steph to write follow- up piece for Woking News & Mail. The Woking group paid for the guest speakers travel (only £15 in total).
● Family Courts Crisis. The group has agreed to appeal this decision. None of the Steer Co have availability to take this on. Steph agreed to email Arianna / Philippa to see if they could support this. However, their response was that this wasn’t within their remit, so Nataly has agreed to take up with Sheila and intends to go to AGM as well.
● Regional Meeting - Representatives needed to assist Arianna in pulling together the next Regional meeting due to happen on the 18 October. Let us or Arianna know if you’re interested in helping out.
● Hong Kong Activist meeting - Thursday, 12 June - 6:30 - 7:30pm. Meet the team and hear what they are doing/working on.
● Amnesty Futures Initiatives - holding a specific meeting to discuss the AGM resolutions that this group has submitted. If interested, they have a meeting on Thursday, 19 June at 7:30.
