July 2025 Meeting
A few things to discuss on Monday so here's a little reminder of what's in store, in no particular order:
-
Southern Regional Meeting - Representatives needed to assist Arianna in pulling together the next Regional meeting due to happen on the 18 October. Let us or Arianna know if you’re interested in helping out. Arianna has organised a meeting for either 10 or 11 July to continue to make plans. If you are interested in participating then let her know - arianna.pisetti@gmail.com. They are still in the planning stage so if you have any suggestions then let her know. It's likely to be somewhere like Tunbridge Wells or similar location and the topic is looking to discuss Prevent or Refugees. It would be great for us to send a group to attend on the 18th as these smaller events are great to network, hear from others and can be inspiring too.

The AGM is this weekend. Nataly will be going as our delegate - thank you so much. Wishing her the best of luck with raising the issue with the Family court Crisis. Sorry we've not been able to assist more and be at the AGM to support you. It's a great place to meet others and be inspired. If you are interested in attending (even if only remotely), then the link is here : https://www.amnesty.org.uk/annual-general-meeting. Look forward to hearing Nataly's updates at the next meeting.

Hong Kong Activist meeting - Thursday, 12 June - 6:30 - 7:30pm. I attended their first session which I have to say was hugely inspiring. i'd like to consider us having a film night as one of our gatherings.. there is a film called "She's in Jail" (https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release/shes-in-jail-q29sbgvjdglvbjpwwc0xmdiwntew) about Chow Hung Tang which is free for us to show with permission. Amnesty Woking Group are now formally part of the Hong Kong Activist Programme.

We have our collection day on the 20th September, so we need to ensure we have everything ready for that - to be discussed at our meeting on the 1 September. Please let Monica, Keith or Steph know if you are able to attend for one of the following sessions (preferably, we need 2 per session):
10:00 - 11:30, 11:30 - 13:00, 13:00 - 14:30, 14:30 - 16:00.
- We have nothing planned for October or November atm. So suggestions are welcome.
- We have our Write For Rights meeting on Monday, 1 December, plus our stall event which need some planning - Jen/Keith are both looking into possible indoor locations given that last year's never happened due to hideous weather conditions. Jen is looking at Asda on the 6th and Keith at Lightbox for 13th.
Monica will travel into Woking to attend the meeting in person. As she comes from quite a few miles away, it'd be great if others can also be there as well in person. Let us know if you need the Teams link.
Anyway, I'll sign off now. I won't be able to make Monday's meeting as I'm away, but Monica (and hopefully Keith) will be attending. Have a lovely Summer. Keep making a difference - Thanks for all your doing. We can't be complacent.
