January 2026 Meeting

A reminder that our Group meeting is scheduled for this Monday, 5 January, 7:30pm.

We have a few topics to discuss :

  • Our W4R campaign - results.
  •  A key topic for this month's meeting is Gaza with Keith leading the discussion.  It's a complex area so I shall do some reading in preparation for our discussion.
  • In connection with the above, we have organised a speaker already for our February meeting - Mel Moss - someone I met at the Southern Networks Group meeting who has fairly recently spent time in the West Bank as part of an interfaith group.  Her experience will be insightful and beneficial.
  • Finances - contribution to AI HQ - Lynda's area.

Other matters;

  • Hong Kong - In connection with the letter that Indy/Benson successfully organised, I'd like for us to arrange a face to face meeting with Will Forster as well.  If that's not possible, then organise a future meeting which he can attend.  Plus, hook up with the Hong Kong Programme events. Chinese NY is late this year - 17 February so perhaps we could do something with the Chinese community around this time?.
  • Surrey Pride - we will contact them to confirm this year's date and location
  • I've been in touch with Barbara from the Soroptimists about us connecting with them.  The feedback is that they are more of a service organisation, therefore, I will investigate how we assist them in this area as a possibility.
  • Amnesty AGM is the weekend of 27-28 June - at University of Sussex (near Brighton) - so I think it'd be marvellous if a few of us attended!  Plus, we need to think about any resolutions that we might want to submit formally.
  • Links with other groups in the area.
  • Future speakers/topics.

We shall be meeting at the Curtis Room, Trinity Methodist Church, Woking, GU21 4LH .
