February 2022 update

Thanks to all who came to Monday's meeting.

The follow up action is in defence of Wendy Galarza who as Tilly explained has been harassed and beaten by police. Here are the links to the two reports on violence against women in Mexico for anyone interested in further reading.

Jane has provided the detail of the gripping book about a mother and son on the American migrant trail which is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins—ISBN 9781472261403.

March meeting

With the publication of the Amnesty report on 'Apartheid' in Israel I will try and get a speaker on the subject, maybe Garry Ettle, Amnesty CC for Middle East or another expert. Keith may be travelling to the region later in the year and so will be able to provide us with a first hand account. I'll be meeting with Keith to see what else might be done at group level over the coming months regarding the various controversial Bills going through Parliament. We can pat ourselves on the back already for sending a group of us to talk with Woking MP Jonathen Lord about those Bills.

April meeting

Leslie is arranging a speaker on Afghanistan which is of course highly topical. It is going to be one of our joint meetings with the Guildford Group.
