SW Regional Activism Conference Information
Exeter Amnesty Group have sent us the following information on the South West Regional Conference.
We are due to hold the postponed SW Regional Activism Conference on Saturday 12th March. This event will be going ahead, but scaled back in size and scope as, due to Covid uncertainties, we do not feel we can continue with our original plans which involved a whole day event, buffet lunch and speakers travelling from London and staying overnight.
The mini- conference will run from 09.45-13.00, on Saturday 12th March at the Mint Methodist Church, Fore St, Exeter, EX4 3AT.
Provisional timetable:
09.45- arrival and registration, refreshments
10.00- Speaker: Cherry Bird, AI SW rep Activist-led campaigns: A new approach, with examples from South Asia (including Kashmir and Afghanistan)
10.45- break for refreshments, photo action activity, letter signing, networking etc
11.30- Speaker: Dr Nick Gill, Exeter University Immigration and Asylum in Britain: Past and Current Challenges to Accessing Human Rights
12.15- packing up and moving to Cathedral Green for photo action
13.00- finish
As we are not providing lunch the event will be free, although we will be asking for donations towards the room hire and refreshment costs.
Please RSVP so we have some idea how many people to expect ( exeteramnestygroup@hotmail.co.uk ) . The room is quite large and we will make sure it is as well ventilated as possible (please wear warm clothes in case it is chilly inside!) and that seating is spread out. Please do a lateral flow test before coming. Mask wearing will be optional unless government guidelines change.
