Cuban protesters (Damas de Blanco) held without charge

On Wednesday 18 July, 2012, Amnesty International issued the Urgent Action AMR 25.018.2012 on behalf of Niurka Luque Álvarez, Sonia Garro Alfonso and Ramón Alejandro Muñoz González who have been detained without charge since March 2012, after a peaceful demonstration to commemorate the anniversary of the 2003 crackdown on dissidents . Amnesty International believes their arrest and detention may be linked to their activism and peaceful exercise of their rights to freedom of expression.  Niurka Luque Álvarez and Sonia Garro Alfonso are both members of the Damas de Blanco (Ladies in White).
