Report from South West Regional Conference- Click here

10 members of the Exeter Group joined 80 members from across the South West at today's AI regional conference.

We had an inspiring talk by Aida, a Kyrgyz Human Rights Defender and member of Bir Duino, who campaign to keep space for Human Rights in Kyrgystan where the democratically elected government is increasingly following Russia to decrease freedoms of association and LGBT and minority rights.

There were workshops on HR in China, Morocco and Roma communities as well as on increasing groups' media profile and justice for asylum seekers.

We all participated in a whole conference lunch-time action, Refugees are Welcome, on the Cathedral Green which gained lots of interest from Saturday shoppers.

Later we heard about volunteer opportunities within AIUK, AGM resolutions and AIUK's strategic plans up to 2020.

It was a great opportunity to meet members from across the South West (from as far afield as Weston-super-Mare, Penzance and Lyme Regis), as well as from local student groups.
