Short Story Competition 2017 Winners!

Congratulations to Lance Clarke who is the winner of our 2017 short story competition with “The Choice”, a powerful and moving story set in Mosul under ISIS occupation.

Congratulations also to Lynda Turbet (our 2016 winner) who is our runner up with “And Some Will Choose To Stay”, which brings to raw life the dangers and dilemmas of a family fleeing Raqqa for Damascus.

We also have a Highly Commended this year: Vanessa Horn with “Parallels” which uses the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, to explore the narrator’s complex relationship with her estranged father.

You can download and read the three stories here:

And a massive thank you to Alison Bruce who judged our competition.
