What topics do the newsletters cover?
We’ll update you with first-hand and behind-the-scenes information from our investigators and their teams.
You’ll learn how your support could be helping to report and expose human rights abuses in six key areas:
· Conflict zones
· Refugees & migrants
· Detention centres
· Labour exploitation
· Illegal arms trade
· Surveillance
We will include content warnings in the newsletters where the information may be distressing to read.
What does my monthly regular gift fund?
All donations go to support Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust.
Your regular donation is vital in helping us continue to expose human rights abuses around the world, by:
- Carrying out investigations - whether on the ground or remotely - requires technology, travel and resources.
- Pay for evidence gathering technology such as laptops, smartphones or cameras to help our investigators document and record human rights abuses in real time.
- Pay for on-the-ground support such as translators or drivers to allow safe travel in conflict or crisis zones.
- Pay international travel to ensure our investigators can be deployed on the ground quickly to conflict and crisis zones.
What is Gift Aid? Can I add Gift Aid to my regular donation?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax already paid on donations they receive.
If you are a UK taxpayer and sign up to Gift Aid, your donations to Amnesty International UK Charitable Trust will be worth an extra 25p for every £1 you give – and it won’t cost you a penny to do. A regular donation of £10 a month for Amnesty Uncovers would be worth £12.50 with Gift Aid. Most people easily qualify for Gift Aid - for example: if you donate £10 you would only need to have paid £2.50 in tax.
