Scotland Demands Better
Scotland Demands Better is a campaign about ensuring everyone has access to life’s essentials. It recognises that too many people are living with breaches of fundamental, every day rights while governments look the other way.
Access to proper housing, affordable and nutritious food, timely healthcare and an adequate social security system are all human rights, and when those responsible for upholding those rights fail, living standards continue to fall.
We all know about the unacceptable levels of poverty in Scotland and the UK. We know people in desperate need can’t access health and social care services, and that far too many live in unsuitable housing, or without any kind of roof over their head.
Too often politicians and decision makers offer complicated explanations for why human rights can’t be upheld. This campaign cuts through that with three simple demands - for better jobs, better social security and better investment for life’s essentials.
Amnesty is proud to support Scotland Demands Better and we hope you will join us at the march for all of us on Saturday October 25th.
The march will set off from the Scottish Parliament at 10am and end at the Meadows where the rally will take place with musical acts, speeches, food vendors and free activities for children.
