The human cost of cheap bananas sold in UK supermarkets.

Please read the following article - published yesterday by the Sunday Mail - about a new film which exposes how plantation workers in Cameroon suffer dreadful working conditions and poverty wages to provide cheap bananas for European supermarkets. It was made by Jan Nimmo and there's a link to her film at the end of the piece.

Maybe, just maybe, if we buy Fair Trade and, if necessary, eat a little less we will all benefit.
How about more of us who are able to investing in funds like 'Shared Interest' [ www.shared-interest.com ] so that more producer groups can run their own community businesess and co-ops.
