18,000 people urged their MPs to ban the importing of Israeli settlement goods

Thank you to the tens of thousands of you who took action urging MPs to publicly call for a total ban on settlement goods entering the UK. The volume of your response and the size of the movement has been incredible.
The campaign is paused while MPs are on their summer recess. But, the fight for justice is far from over.
What’s been happening?
Israel's settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal and a war crime as stated by the international community and the International Court of Justice. They are a key feature of Israel's system of apartheid - settlements and settlers are responsible for a huge range of violations against Palestinians: forced displacement, violence, restricting access to land, agriculture and water.
The UK banned goods from illegally occupied Crimea but is still allowing goods from settlements in illegally occupied Palestinian territory. The UK government’s failure to act is legitimising war crimes and the racist system of apartheid against Palestinians, while ignoring their obligation under international law to act.
What next?
So far, XX MPs have publicly called for settlement goods to be banned from entering the UK.
But far more action is needed.
The Amnesty International movement is working on other ways to hold the UK government to account for their failure to act to stop the genocide in Gaza.
In December 2024, Amnesty International published a report that found sufficient basis to conclude that Israeli authorities committed and continue to commit prohibited acts under the Genocide Convention.
Even if there is a ceasefire, stopping the killings and injuries is not the only aspect of ending genocide. For the genocide to end, other prohibited acts need to cease, in particular the acts and omissions that are part of the deliberate infliction of the conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of the group.
Lifting the unlawful restrictions on freedom of movement, ceasing the practices and policies leading to forcible transfers of civilians and ending all forms of torture and other ill-treatment of Palestinian prisoners from Gaza are also essential steps towards ending the genocide.
Unless the well documented root causes are addressed, Palestinians and Israelis cannot even begin to hope for a brighter future built on rights, equality and justice.
