Syria expert available to talk about ISIS armed group

Amnesty International has a Syria expert able to give interviews and briefings on ISIS (the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham), the armed group now controlling areas in northern Syria.

Recently, reports have emerged that ISIS may have killed up to 50 detainees - including local activists - that they had been holding captive in Aleppo, with media reports also saying that hundreds of others were freed.

Last month Amnesty released an 18-page briefing, Rule of fear: ISIS abuses in detention in northern Syria, revealing that torture, abuse and summary killings were rife within secret prisons run by the group in al-Raqqa and Aleppo. Children were among those detained and abused.

Cilina Nasser, a Syria researcher for Amnesty who has interviewed former detainees held by ISIS, is available for interview.
