NUJ supports Amnesty's media awards and calls for NUJ members to enter

NUJ members in Northern Ireland are being urged to enter the Amnesty International Media Awards 2011.

Irish Executive Council member Michael Fisher (and National Executive Council member Bob Miller) wish to encourage as many entries as possible from Northern Ireland.

This list of categories and rules for Amnesty’s Media Awards 2011 pamphlet (see pdf) is attached.

We are calling on chapel officials to print and distribute this pamphlet to members.

Deadline for entries is March 1, 2011. Entrants can download the entry form or submit their entry online at www.amnesty.org.uk/awards
 
On the awards, now in their 20th year, Michael Fisher said: “The NUJ has worked closely and has had a long association with Amnesty International. Amnesty’s work in protecting human rights globally is internationally recognised and this competition should be supported as it acknowledges the risks journalists undertake while reporting the stories that might otherwise remain untold."
