‘If these last years have shown anything, it’s that human rights are precious’ - Kaiser Chiefs

Award-winning band and Amnesty International UK ambassadors, the Kaiser Chiefs, have released a new limited-edition Kaiser Chiefs / Amnesty International UK t-shirt ahead of a major London gig in aid of Amnesty.

Designed by front-man Ricky Wilson, the striking grey, pink and yellow shirt commemorates the intimate, one-off headline gig the band are set to play on 15 April.

The April show - a special event hosted by Richer Sounds at Powerhaus Camden in north London, with further artists set to be announced in the coming weeks - will also see the launch of a limited-edition vinyl record released by Richer Sounds and Technics (details below). All ticket sales and proceeds from the gig are being donated to Amnesty, with support from Richer Sounds.

The record, “Best of Richer Unsigned”, which is limited to 2,020 copies, features a host of handpicked artists alongside an exclusive track by Parva (aka Kaiser Chiefs).

The new t-shirt includes Ricky Wilson’s autograph printed on the front, and on the back a timeline of Amnesty’s key history since its inception in 1961, including winning the Nobel Peace Prize for its work to stamp out torture, successful campaigning for a global Arms Trade Treaty, and recent abortion rights victories in Northern Ireland. Made from Fair Wear-certified organic cotton, the limited-edition t-shirt is available in a unisex style, sizes XS-3XL.

The t-shirt and album go on sale later this week (Thursday 16 February, available here), with tickets for the Camden concert also available on Thursday here. The Kaiser Chiefs have also recorded three new promotional videos, the first of which appeared today.

Kaiser Chiefs said:

“We’re proud Ambassadors of Amnesty International UK, and are super-excited to be supporting this amazing human rights organisation.

“If these last years have shown anything, it’s that human rights are precious and worth fighting for. Whoever you are, wherever you live, you have a voice and can play a part in shaping the world you want to live in.

“We are proud to be part of the Amnesty movement, to do what we can to fight abuses of human rights, worldwide.”
