INDIA: Where is the inquiry?

T. Puroshottam, Joint Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) was stabbed to death in November last year. Azam Ali, the district secretary of the Nalgonda branch of the APCLC, was killed on 18 February 2001.

Amnesty International is continuing to urge the government to order an independent and impartial investigation into the killings and into serious allegations that police have been acting in connivance with those responsible.

The organisation is appealing to the National Human Rights Commission to take action to ensure an impartial investigation into these serious allegations.
