Burma (Burma): Aung San Suu Kyi must be freed immediately

Amnesty International UK Media Director, Lesley Warner, said:

'Prisoner of conscience Aung San Suu Kyi should never have been arrested in the first place. The SPDC must release her immediately.'

While Amnesty International cannot confirm these reports, it remains deeply concerned for Aung San Suu Kyi's safety, as she is being held in incommunicado detention in an unknown location. On 29 July the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) visited her. It is believed that was the last contact she had with the outside world.
