A Successful Day in Berwick

At Spital Seaside Festival

The Berwick and Eastern Borders Amnesty Group manned a stall at the annual Spittal Seaside Festival on August 11th. The festival attracts thousands of visitors to Spittal to enjoy a weekend of traditional seaside fun.

We felt this was a good opportunity to spread the Human Rights message to an audience that we do not often reach. For many people it was the first they had heard of Amnesty. We gave out lots of leaflets and felt it was a very positive event. Several people expressed an interest in joining the group and we shall be interested to see if anyone actually joins us. As well as handing out leaflets we sold African jewellery which had been donated to us and ran some simple traditional children’s games . This enabled us to raise over £100. We hope to return next year.
