Stall at Human Rights Festival 7 June

Group members on Warrington stall at Liverpool Human Rights Festival

Despite the rain and relocation to a nearby church the Warrington Group had a stall at the Human Rights Festival in Liverpool on Saturday 7th June. The original venue was Sefton Park which would have attracted more families and individuals keen to find out about the work of Amnesty groups and others in the North West.

However, we had a steady stream of people who signed our petition urging the Government to ratify the UN Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and a birthday card for Jose Ruben Zamora from Guatemala.

We also had a very good response to our invitation to make a dove for peace from children and adults and our display of children's books on a range of human rights related issues proved very popular.

Taking part in the festival gave us the opportunity to meet with other Amnesty Local Groups and discover more about like-minded groups working on similar campaigns to ourselves. A good day had by all.
