Refugee Week 2025 16 - 22 June

Warrington Group raising awareness of previous Refugee Week

Established in 1998 in the UK, Refugee Week takes place every year around World Refugee Day, 20th June, and has grown into a global movement. It is the world's largest arts and culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

Refugee Week events and activities are many and varied. Nothing is too big or too small from city-wide festivals to group walks, exhibitions, film screenings, museum tours, football tournaments, public talks, activities in schools, libraries, arts venues and much more.

In 2024 there were over 15,000 events and activities and over 1.6 million people took part.

Refugee Week celebrates the contributions of refugees and people seeking sanctuary in order to challenge negative stereotypes and create a space where refugees can be seen and heard beyond their experience of displacement. Everyone has a contribution to make in society. Please think about refugees during this week and what they are fleeing from and what they may have had to leave behind as they seek a safety.
