Dear Friends

This is August and holidays for Amnesty groups. But I send you two interesting articles to read.

One from the IS

http://www.amnesty.org/en/for-media/press-releases/myanmar-arrests-continue-amid-promise-release-all-prisoners-conscience-2013

and the second from The Economist. This article makes gloomy reading and will help you understand why our Dr Tun Aung case is such a difficult one. The Burmese government does not class him as a political prisoner nor as a Prisoner of Conscience. So, it will be a struggle to get him out alive.

On another matter

how about a nice weekend on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset? If you go for the weekend 18-20 October, you will also be able to see The Burma Play which the Burmaworking Lyme Regis group are arranging. Kate Allen and Anna Roberts of BCUK will also be there.
