April diary

Thursday April 7th 10.00 - 12.00 at the Falcon Hotel, Chapel Street, Stratford on Avon.  Letter writing for Individuals at Risk, all-comers and non-members welcome.

April monthly meeting Wednesday, April 13th, 7.30 at the Friends Meeting House, 37 Maidenhead Road, Stratford on Avon. A screening of the documentary film ‘Seeds of Hope’ by Fiona Lloyd-Davies.  The film features the outstanding work of Masika Katsuva, a Congolese woman who set up a refuge for victims of sexual violence in Eastern Congo.  Her organization, the Association des Personnes Desheritees Unies pour le Developpement (APDUD), has 50 houses offering shelter and support to survivors of war and rape, women disowned and cast out as a result of the violence they suffered.  In 2010 Masika was given the Ginetta Sagan award for women’s and children’s rights by Amnesty International.  Masika died this summer, aged 49, of malaria and high blood pressure.  The film is moving, occasionally graphic, and is 70 minutes long.  All welcome.
