Recent and Forthcoming Events for R&T Amnesty

Out stall at Hands Fair this year went well.  Our three Actions/Petitions were on behalf of Roma children in the Czech Republic, the people of Syria and the worrying possibility that the Human Rights Act may be replaced in Britain. We also featured cards calling for the release of 16-year-old Moses Akatugba from Death Row and are delighted to learn that he has since been granted a total pardon.

Thanks to all who came to help or sign petitions. We are especially grateful to Stefan Reekie who gave up his day to come from North London to support us.

We had many visitors to our stall and collected over 200 signatures. We also raised £55.65 from donations, the children’s Lucky Dip and the sale of craft items.

Our June monthly meeting will be on 11th June from 8pm - 9.30pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street, Twickenham,TW1 3NJ.

We shall be signing letters and cards on behalf of the persecuted minority of Roma Families in Europe, whose plight we heard about from Ulrike Schmidt last month.

We shall also hear from our representatives the AGM which they attended last month.

Do come along and join us on Thursday. We welcome new members and visitors as well as regular members.
