March 2018 Monthly Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 8th March from 8pm - 9.30pm at The Twickenham Club, 7, Church Street, Twickenham, TW1 3NJ.

There will be no speaker this month because we'll be preparing for an exhibition of photos taken by Egyptian photojournalist, Shawkan, who has been imprisoned since 2013, just for taking photos at a protest in Egypt. For more information please go to: https://www.amnesty.org/en/search/?q=Shawkan

Our exhibition is designed to draw attention to Shawkan's unjust imprisonment and torture as well as his outstanding photography and we are extremely grateful to Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford for making space available to show his work.

Please see below the attached flyer which gives details of the event. We hope that many of you will come to the opening evening on Friday 16th March from 6.30 - 8.30 to see a selection of Shawkan's photos, which will be in display on the right hand side as you walk into the Centre.

Meanwhile, if you would like to join us in preparing for the exhibition, please come to our meeting on 8th March, where R&T members Mary Martin and Catherine Dolan will welcome your help.  We also welcome any members who can be available on the opening evening to engage with the public and distribute information.
