January 2015 Meeting

At our first meeting of this year we watched Robert Greenwald's documentry film Unmanned: America's Drone War. It deals with some of the issues raised at our November 2014 meeting by Michael Fisher, one of Amnesty's two country co-ordinators for the US.

The film investigates the impact of US drone strikes across the world. Thus it reveals the realities of drone warfare, the violation of international law, the loss of life and the far-reaching implications for communities living under drones as well those individuals who operate them.

This was a chilling and disturbing exoperience for the group but we felt we learned a lot and it provoked a great deal of thought and discussion.
