Gillian Horne

It is with great sadness that we have to let you know that Gillian Horne, who for many years was Chair of our group, died from cancer in West Middlesex Hospital last Saturday.

In addition to being very active locally, Gillian played an important role in Amnesty's work in South America, particularly in Guatemala where she accompanied a group of villagers who fled their village from the local military and crossed into Mexico. Gillian and other volunteers later accompanied them back to their own country and helped them establish a new village.

It is particularly sad that Gillian had just married her husband John during the last few weeks.

Details of Gillian's funeral have not been decided yet but if you would like to know these, please telephone John and Gwen Reekie over the next few days (0208 898 7600 or mob 07973187488).
