‘Surviving Evin Prison’ Exhibition, Perth, 27th June - 6th July 2025

On June 27th 2025, we were honoured to hear directly from Anoosheh Ashoori at the launch of the exhibition describing in detail his experience of being held prisoner for four and a half years, without justification, in Iran’s notorious Evin prison.
Anoosheh spoke movingly about the awful conditions that he and his fellow prisoners had to endure. His account of the many days of relentless cowardly and barbaric interrogation was particularly chilling. We heard about, and were inspired by and in awe of, the actions he took during his incarceration to see him through his ordeal. What he has done to rebuild his life on release and highlight the plight of hostages held across the world has been truly remarkable.
This exhibition was put together by Anoosheh with the support of AIUK, and is available for showing by Amnesty Groups across the UK. We were grateful to St John's Kirk, Perth, for making the space available for the exhibition, supporting our Group in welcoming visitors, and providing catering at the launch. Thanks too for the practical help from Amnesty Scotland and Amnesty UK staff. More than 670 people were recorded as visiting the church and exhibition during the week.
