Oxford Pride Festival

Huge thanks to everyone who helped out on or came to visit the Oxford Amnesty stall at the Oxford Pride on 8th June. It was a great day - the sun (mostly) shone and we collected:

- 30+ signatures behalf of Noxolo Nogwaza one of our regular 'individuals at risk' from South Africa;

- 90 signatures on action and solidarity letters on behalf of Ahmet Yildiz from Turkey.

Both Noxolo and Ahmet were murdered because of their sexual orientation and our work is making an important contribution in the campaign for justice on their behalf.

We took lots of photos with solidarity messages for Ahmet's partner, Ibrahim Can, which are now up on the group Facebook page and will be sent to Ibrahim.

We also collected a large number of messages on solidarity ribbons to send to South African Pride marches so activists can wear them and know that we're thinking of them here.  Finally, we raised the princely sum of £11.24.  All in all a good day's work!
