Amnesty stall @ Vigil for Palestinian Prisoners (April 17th)‏

Oxford City Amnesty Group are holding a stall at Bonn Square (Queen Street, Central Oxford) between 11:30am - 14:30pm on 17th April as part of an event being organised to mark Palestinian Political Prisoners' Day.

From the organisers:

Currently Israel imprisons close to 5,000 Palestinians, most held illegally in jails in Israel. Many are held in “Administrative Detention” (without trial) – detentions which are often renewed for years. DCI (Defence for Children International) Palestine reported 236 children to be in Israeli military custody in February 2013 including children as young as 12 years old. Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli jails are on hunger strike to protest against administrative detention and the conditions under which they are held. Samer Al-Issawi from East Jerusalem has been on intermittent hunger strike for nearly 250 days, and is close to death.

Amnesty believes that...

- everyone has the right to fair trial

- Israel must release or charge Palestinian administrative detainees

- Israel must immediately and unconditionally release prisoners of

conscience held in detention
