Saturday 10 January Vigil for Gaza and the West Bank

Despite the fact that the media have moved on to other world events there is still a need for us to demonstrate and bring attention to the dire situation still in Gaza and the West Bank.

  • Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10th, Israeli attacks have killed at least 414 Palestinians and injured 1,145 in daily violations by Israel.
  • The so-called “yellow line,” which divides Gaza, is now being presented not merely as a temporary armistice line, but as a “new border,” according to Israel’s military chief, a clear violation of the US plan.
  • Gaza’s healthcare sector faces immense challenges after the ceasefire from a lack of medicine and equipment to the inability to treat the wounded and rebuild hospitals and health care centres.
  • The so-called “reconstruction phase” – supposedly part of the second stage of the US-brokered deal – remains an empty slogan. For most families, “returning home” means pitching tents beside the ruins of their houses.
  • On 30 December, 37 NGOs received official notification that their registrations would expire on 31 December 2025. This triggers a 60-day period after which INGOs would be required to cease operations in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
  • A statement from Medical Aid for Palestinians as follows: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is resolutely determined to continue our lifesaving humanitarian and medical assistance across the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), despite Israel’s decision to deregister humanitarian organisations. Our Palestinian-led teams and local partners remain, and our work has not stopped – and will not stop.

Thank you for your continuing support for the Cromer Vigils.
