Minehead Group's January 2022 newsletter

Our January newsletter includes a report of our Write for Rights coffee morning and letter/card signing on 10 December, Human Rights Day. Despite the cold weather and Covid, about 30 people came along and enjoyed our coffee and cake, as well as taking part in the letter signing. This event, together with our earlier letter writing session and people writing letters at home, means that we were able to make a significant contribution to the 2021 Write for Rights Campaign. 

On 7 January, we had an interesting Zoom session with Graham Minter of the Maidstone Amnesty group. Graham told us all about the Kent Network, an AIUK pilot project. We followed that up with a further Zoom session a week later to discuss how we might develop a similar network in Somerset. Watch this space!

Other items in the newsletter are a list of actions you can take this month, reports on human rights in India and Nepal, and a list of diary dates. Forthcoming events organised by the Minehead Group include an action stall on Friday 11 March 1000-1200 on the Avenue, Minehead for International Women's Day, and a fund-raising quiz on Friday 25 March, starting at 1930 in the Minehead and District Socal Club.
