Write for Rights in Halberton

Our final Write for Rights event this year is this Thursday 15 Dec from 2.30 to 4.30pm at Halberton Methodist Church Hall (car park opposite church). Join us to send cards/messages in support of people under threat in different countries, including Alexandra Skochilenko, peacefully protesting against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. On 31 March, she replaced price tags in a local supermarket in Saint Petersburg with small paper labels containing facts about the invasion. Within two weeks she was behind bars. She has been charged with ‘public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation’. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.
