Minutes for Ordinary Meeting 9th September 2013

Welcome new members - none,

Correspondence – email from AIUK asking members to email their MPs about the Lobbying Bill - Mary has done this, Carol took details. Email regarding resignation of AIUK Chair, Ciarnan Helferty. Email regarding decisions taken at recent ICM. Anyone who would like further details please contact Rosemary or Mary.
Treasurer's Report and Fund-raising – current account £483 after affiliation fee. Our postponed Street Collection has been confirmed for Saturday 5th October with permission for a table on the High Street, by the Blue Boar car park. We will be setting up from 0930. Please come and help us if you can. Amnesty have issued their Christmas catalogue. If anyone would like a copy, they are available on the Amnesty shop website. We hope to make a combined order, as usual. Orders to Mary , please.
Reports on CAPs (RANs) – WARAN - no new action
SARAN - no new action.
Death Penalty – very few actions at the moment with none in the areas we work on.
Poverty and Human Rights - no new action.
Report on Action File – we now have a new Prisoner of Conscience and will be starting work shortly.
Action from AIUK - letter to President Aliyev of Azerbaijan regarding the deepening human rights crisis in the country, Carol and Mary will action.
Write for Rights 2013 - we have been invited to St Margaret’s Church Rainham on Thursday 28th November to ask people to sign greetings cards at their weekly coffee drop-in session. This is 10 to 12 noon. All members are invited to join in.
