Weekly Action for Ahmed Mansoor July 21

Manchester Amnesty Weekly Action

Please do this action and make a difference.

You might have seen that there is a lot of attention the moment on the NSO Group and the Pegasus spyware. This spyware was also used against UAE prisoner of conscience Ahmed Mansoor in 2016 for whom the Manchester group has been campaigning since his arrest in 2017.

Here are a couple of links for more information.

The Gulf Centre for Human Rights published  a new article this week about Ahmed Mansoor. They fear the publication of some private letters by Ahmed Mansoor in the regional media might lead to further retaliation against him. Here is the GCHR article: https://www.gc4hr.org/news/view/2786

Please send a tweet or email calling for UN independent inspectors to be allowed access to Ahmed.

I urge @HHShkMohd @MohamedBinZayed @AnwarGargash to allow @UN_SPExperts and other international experts to check on his well-being and safety. We are concerned that the recent publication of a leaked letter detailing his abuse while in prison will put him at risk. #FreeAhmed

FAO His Excellency Mansoor Abdullah Khalfan Juma Abulhoul

 Your Excellency

I am writing as a member of Manchester Amnesty International to urge the UAE authorities to allow UN independent inspectors to visit Ahmed Mansoor to check on his prison conditions, guarantee his safety and insist he gets a bed and mattress to sleep on. We are particularly concerned for his wellbeing in view of a recently published, leaked letter by him detailing his abuse while in prison.
