CHANGES TO EVENTS

There are a couple of changes to planned events:

People’s History Museum Events – POSTPONED!

We were planning to hold an evening of poetry in support of Ahmed Mansoor and a Have Your Say session on the UAE on December 12th. For obvious reasons, the PHM has postponed both of these events, the poetry evening is likely to be rescheduled for the end of January on a Saturday afternoonand the Have Your Say on the UAE will happen sometime in March/April. We are still in discussion with Young Identity and the People’s History Museum over the new dates.

December Group Meeting – Reinstated on Monday Dec 9th!

As our regular meeting was so close to our planned UAE linked events, we had decided to forgo meeting in December. However, now that we no longer have these events in December, we are reinstating the December group meeting. There WILL be a group meeting ON MONDAY 9THDECEMBER, 7.30pm, Cross St Chapel. We’ve received workshop material on Amnesty’s campaigning on the effect of Climate Change  on Human Rights and Anne will have a go at facilitating this workshop at the group meeting.

Please also note other events in November/December:

Climate Strike March Friday November 29th.

The next Climate Strike will be on Friday November 29th. There will again be a demo and  march in Manchester, starting at 12pm in St Peter’s Square.

It’s unlikely that Anne won’t be able to be there this time but it would be great if Manchester Amnesty had a presence – does anyone else want to take a lead on this and get the Amnesty banners to the demo? Email anne.walker9@ntlworld.com and Anne will get the banners to you.

Letter Writing Drop-in Saturday November 30th

Come along to the Eighth Day Café on Oxford Road between 2-4pm and write some letters for this year’s Write for Rights Cases – all welcome – just drop in.

Secret Policeman’s Tour Tuesday December 3rd

The Secret Policeman’s Ball is coming to the Palace in Manchester! Get your tickets from https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/the-secret-policemans-tour/palace-theatre-manchester/

Whalley Range for Peace and Justice Write for Rights Saturday December 7th

Between 2-5pm there will be an amazing event in St Margaret’s Church on Rufford Road in Whalley Range, the main purpose is to get messages of solidarity written for this year’s Amnesty WfRs cases but there will be stalls, food and music as well. We will also have a stall and we could do with some extra help, so come along for what is always a very enjoyable event.
