Our Campaigns & Activities

The group works on the following campaigns and activities. We have campaign coordinators for each of the main campaigns to help keep the group up to date with the national programmes.   

• Israel and the Palestine Occupied Territories.

Campaigning for an end to the abuse of civilians as a result of Israel's illegal occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem and its inhumane blockade of Palestinians in Gaza.

• Terrorism, Security and Human Rights.

Campaigning for an end to human rights abuses as a result of the ‘war on terror’ and for the release of British people held in Guantanamo Bay without charge.  

•  Women's Rights. 

Campaigning 1) for equality of opportunity and legal status, and 2) against sexual abuse and domestic violence worldwide. 

• Death penalty

Campaigning against the death penalty because it violates two fundamental human rights laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

• LGBTI rights

Campaigning for the right to be treated as equals regardless of our gender identity or sexuality.

• Annual Write for Rights campaign

Sending cards with a friendly greeting or message of solidarity to people who are in danger or unjustly imprisoned.

• Letter writing sessions

Writing letters on behalf of people suffering human rights abuses to the organisations responsible for their predicament.

• Education work in local schools

We work with local schools groups to raise awareness about human rights and to encourage young people to participate in campaigns.
