The Lewes Amnesty Group maintains a site on its own domain here.

Amnesty International is an independent human rights organisation made up of ordinary people worldwide standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.

Our two main aims are to:

  • promote awareness of human rights
  • oppose specific abuses

Amnesty International has 2.8 million members around the world who are not afraid to stand up and campaign against human rights abuses. Amnesty coordinates many campaigns.  Local groups are vital to this effort. In the UK there are over 285 groups whose members’ actively participate in these campaigns.

Where to find us

  • Meetings

We meet on the second Thursday in the months: February, April, June, September and November.

Location:     The Lecture Room, Lewes Town Hall, Lewes

Time:           7:00 – 9:00pm

Meetings often include a featured speaker as well as updates on current activities.

  • Local Newsletter

We issue a bi-monthly newsletter. You can download the current newsletter from this site.  It is also sent to those who ask for it and to several businesses in the town.  If you want a copy let us know.

  • Stalls in the town

We organise stalls at various times throughout the year usually featuring one of our campaigns.
