WRITE FOR RIGHTS 2022

Hornsey & Wood Green Group hosted its first in-person Write for Rights afternoon since the Covid pandemic at St. James Church Muswell Hill on Friday, 25th November.

This was an opportunity for people to help victims of human rights abuses by writing greetings cards to them and/or signing letters to relevant authorities on their behalf.  The event proved very successful, with 60 greetings cards sent to the 10 people singled out by Amnesty this year and 100 letters sent to authorities on their behalf.  In addition, £145 was raised as a contribution to postage costs.  Those attending also enjoyed coffee, tea and other refreshments.

Among those attending were Hornsey & Wood Green MP Catherine West, a long-time supporter of these events, and local councillors Cathy Brennan (Muswell Hill) and Lester Buxton (Crouch End) - see photo attached.
