SPONSORED WALK 2020

Time out to support Kylie Moore-Gilbert, Australian-British academic imprisoned in Iran

Despite the Covid pandemic, group members and supporters used a period of restrictions being eased to hold our annual sponsored walk on 19th September.  Walkers followed the approx. 5-mile route of the Moselle River in Haringey from its source in Queen's Wood, Highgate, to Lordship Recreation Ground, Tottenham.  The river is mostly underground but has been opened up at Lordship Rec, where walkers took time out to send support to Kylie Moore-Gilbert, an Australian-British academic specialising in Islamic studies, who was imprisoned in Iran on espionage charges.  (She was finally released in a prisoner swap in November 2020).  Some of the walkers carried on to Bruce Castle - where we were treated to a spur-of-the-moment jazz concert by local musicians at the cafe - and Tottenham Cemetery.
