Refugees and the Arms Trade - Running Away From the Problem (Refugee Week panel discussion event) - Photo

We had an excellent discussion at this Refugee Week 2012 event on Fri 22nd June, organised by our group and the Amnesty Scotland office. John Wilkes, chief exec of the Scottish Refugee Council, chaired the panel, which featured Jo Swinson MP, Shabnum Mustapha (Director, Amnesty Scotland) and our special guest speaker from Syria who told us his own harrowing story of his life as a refugee. There are international treaties to regulate the global sale of bananas and dinosaur bones but not for the sale of arms, hence the picture.
