APRIL GROUP ACTION – BUNTING AND BOOKS

APRIL GROUP ACTION – BUNTING AND BOOKS  (letter signing, bunting signing and a book stall)

On Saturday 9th April we ran a stall at the Farmers’ market just opposite Frome library.
We held a letter signing stall, wrote messages of solidarity on bunting and sold books. Our action was in support of the young women and girls who have been subjected to Early Forced Marriage and/or Female Genital Mutilation who have managed to seek help at one of the shelters that AI is supporting. In Burkina Faso Amnesty International is working directly with 5 shelters that house girls that have been subjected to Early Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation.
26 bunting triangles were signed and we sent 33 letters to the authorities in Burkina Faso. We also sent 20 letters about Alaa Brinji in Saudi Arabia, who is on trial for apostasy and may risk the death penalty if found guilty.
