Film Night this Saturday! Stuart: A Life Backwards.

Following hot on the heels of our annual lecture, we are holding a film night.

 

It’s a showing of Stuart: A Life Backwards. Based on the award-winning book by Alexander Masters, it tells the story of Stuart Shorter who lived on the streets of Cambridge and his unlikely friendship with academic student Alexander.

 

Starring two of our finest actors, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy, this is a compelling and moving portrait of a vulnerable and damaged character in all his complexity. It challenges our preconceptions about the homeless and yet it never preaches, managing to be both poignant and funny.

 

We are able to show this film with the kind permission of Neal Street Productions, which has donated its entire licensing fee to Emmaus, Cambridge.
