On Mon 21 July, Diss Amnesty came together with Diss Town of Sanctuary and Diss Stand Up to Racism to provide a presence to counter the far-right protest outside the local hotel.  News of the Home Office's surprise decision to change the hotel's use from providing sanctuary to families seeking asylum to providing sanctuary to single adult males had sparked those protesting the use of hotels in Norwich and Epping to house single adult males to come to Diss.
