On 14th June 2023 a small fishing boat packed with 750 refugees sank near the coast of Pylos Greece after being towed towards international waters by a patrol boat of the Greek coastguard.

Over 600 people, including many women and children drowned.

Amnesty International welcomes that finally investigations by the Greek authorities have progressed and the captain and crew of the patrol boat have been charged.

Amnesty is calling for human rights of refugees and migrants including the right to seek asylum to be respected at all borders and for the independent monitoring of human rights violations at the borders of Fortress Europe.

This vigil will commemorate the over 600 people who died when the "Adriana" capsized near the coast of Pylos Greece.
